摘要 校训文本是个特殊而又广泛的题材,作为理念、原则和目标的集中体现,任一则校训大多都出之有典、有源,它同校名、校歌、校旗和校标等一起承担着外宣的急先锋。而对于担负文化交流和宣传任务的校训翻译,国内研究却显得相对不足。笔者以文化视角,从原语特征和文化蕴含上解读了国内外三所名校的校训及其译语后,发现译语在实现功能对等的同时,存在一定程度上的文化意象缺失。这对校训翻译实践有着积极的现实意义。 As specific and common texts, university mottos are integrated to express notions, principles and objectives of universities. They act as pioneers in communication wither the names, flags and shields. However, civil researches on them are less. From a cultural perspective and focusing on the features of SL and their cultural meanings, this paper makes a comparison between three university mottos and holds that functional equivalences of TLTs are realized along with absences of cultural imaginaries of SLTs.
