An Analysis of Attitudes in Reports of Iran Nuclear Issue

时政性新闻报道要求报道者以负责任的态度客观公正地描述所发生的事件,但是"客观公正"背后所隐藏的主观态度是一个不争的事实。运用评价系统的次系统之一——态度系统,从其下的情感、判断和鉴赏三个子体系着手,对选取的《纽约时报》和《中国日报》中有关伊朗核问题报道所使用的词汇进行分析,这些报道中的主观性一目了然。

It is incumbent upon journalists to be responsible for and objective to political news reports, but subjectivity is always involved in objective news reporting. By applying Affect, Judgment and Appreciation, three components of Attitude subsystem in Appraisal Theory, this paper attempts to uncover the subjective attitudes and the viewpoints in the news reports on Iran nuclear issue through a comparative study of lexical items employed in New York Times and China Daily.
