Yuanmingyuan, known in China as the garden of perfect brightness, is located in the western suburb of Beijing where there is rich water resources and green mountainsand hills. During the reign of Qing Emperor Kangxi (1661-1722),the Everlasting Spring Garden was built on ruins of a Ming Dynastygarden and completed in 1690. The garden served as asummer palace where the emperor escaped the summer
