Objective It is to approach the relationship between daily walking-steps (DWS) and the components of metabolic syndrome (MS). Methods 122 individuals participating in routine physical examinations of health were investigated objective measurements include DWS and components of MS. Results Occurrences of MS were significantly different between male and female (male 7196 Vs female 17 %, P 〈 0.01 ). Males whose DWS 〉 7 500 steps showed significantly fewer MS than those of DWS〈 7 500 steps (14 96 Vs 71%, P 〈 0.01 ). No significant relationship was found between MS and DWS in females. Conclusion There are significant relationships between DWS and MS in young and middle-aged males, those of DWS〈 7 500 steps show significantly higher occurrence of MS than those of DWS〉7 500 steps. Male DWS of MS group are significantly fewer than that of non-MS group. Young and middle-aged females show no significant relationship between DWS and MS, and show significantly lower occurrence of MS than males.
