社会捐赠是美国大学,特别是私立大学的主要收入来源之一。哈佛大学法学院以其拥有16亿美元资产位列全美法学院首富,在世界各国法学院中也是首屈一指。哈佛法学院的运作资金包括政府投入的科研经费、政府对学生的补助金以及各类社会捐赠等。科研经费和学生补助金占整个运作资金很少一部分,而且属于专款专用。学院的发展资金,包括改善教学、科研条件,增设新的教授席位等费用主要依赖社会捐赠。在过去的200多年里,哈佛法学院在社会捐赠方面积累了丰富的经验,许多先进的理念和完善的制度值得我们借鉴和学习。

One of the important factors that the American higher education is leading the world is the donation culture as well as the advanced ideology and liberal environment in American Society. With 1.6 billion US dollars, Harvard law school ranks the first among all American Jaw schools in wealth. Its sound financial situation helps the school to hire the best scholars from all countries, gives a strong support to the education and management of the school. Apart from a small amount coming from tuition, most of its wealth comes from donation. After more than two hundred years of development, Harvard law school has set up a complete fund raising system.
