his paper aims at reviewing the rough trend of 97's economic development in Hongkong in retrospect,indicating that great achievements had been made in the first three quarters since the returning to China,while the Southeastern Asia financial turmoil caused dramatic drops to the economy of Hongkong in the fourth quarter of 1997.In the meantime,the authors try to analyze the internal factors of Hongkong economy and comment on that a sustained,stable and healthy growth in the economy of Chinese inland will provide Hongkong's for a powerful and promising future.
