20-80 rule and the long tail theory are two different theoretical perspectives of the traditional economy and the Internet economy era,they are closely linked to the library.In this paper,the key point of 20-80 rule and the long tail theory and their dialectical relations were introduced,and the symbiotic applications of them on information resources building,human resources management,the reader service in the modern library were discussed.
