Study on the Origin of Religion of the Tongtian King

通天大圣是闽北顺昌一带人民虔信的神明。其身份一直扑朔迷离、众说纷纭。由于其与《西游记》中齐天大圣的关系密切且一度引起国内媒体高度关注,也吸引了多位学者对其源流展开了探讨。"通天大圣"之名很可能就是来自于瑜伽教,是历史上猴精崇拜与密教经典相结合的产物。

Tongtian King is one of the folk religion in North Fujian. It is an important link of the image about the Monkey King. I believe that the name of Tongtian King come from an ancient folk religion of ＂Wutong Monster＂. And then it was reformed by Yoga sect, which is a civil form of Tantrism in the Song Dynasty.
