The asymmetric hydrosilylation of poly (isopropenyl methyl ketone) gave an optically active polymer of poly (3methyl3butene2ol). The reaction was carried out with diphenyl silane and a rhodium(Ⅰ) catalyst containing a chiral thiazolidine ligand of 2(2pyridyl)4carbomethoxy1,3thiazolidine (A). The effect of reaction conditions on the optical rotation of the polymer products was studied in detail. The highest specific rotation (20D) was +198° when the hydrosilylation was carried out in 1,4dioxane at room temperature. On the other hand, the copolymer for n(isopropenyl methyl ketone)/n(styrene)=1 is the corresponding alcohol having negative smaller specific rotation, -54°.
