Postposition Adverb tian(添) in the Wu Dialect and Its Boundarization

一般认为,吴语后置副词"添"的语法意义相当于普通话中的"再",表示动作行为的持续或反复。文章经过考察认为,"添"与"再"的意义并不完全相当,而且由于后置所产生的句法诱因,使"添"同时还起到谓语的有界化作用。文章并进一步推想,"添"也许还代表着南方方言中普遍存在的后置副词的类型。

Generally speaking, the grammatical significance of postposition adverb tian （添）of the Wu dialect is equivalent to zai（再） in the Mandarin, expressing the continuance and reiteration of ac- tion. This paper holds that tian（添） is not exactly equivalent to zai（再）. Futhermore, tian （添）has the limit function of predicate because postposition brings syntax inducement. The author deems that tian （添） might represent the type of ubiquitous postposition adverb in southern dialect on further sup- positions.
