The History, Current Status, and Challenges of Infectious Diseases in Yunnan

结合云南省疾病控制机构发展的历史及新中国成立几代工作者采取的预防控制措施,回顾了云南省在传染病控制方面取得的成就、目前的工作现状及面临的挑战,认为云南省通过50余a的努力,已消灭了一些传染病、控制了一些疾病,传染病总发病率控制在全国平均水平,但形势仍然严峻,传染病发病具有疾病谱广、发病率高、危害严重、控制困难的特点,面对更加繁重的疾病防治任务,须强化疫情监测预警、处理突发公共卫生事件和医疗救治三个能力,加强疾病预防控制机构和医疗机构在疾病预防控制中的协调与配合.

The authors introducesd history of Disease Control Institutes in Yunnan province, and several generations＇prevention strategies in the past 50 years since New China has been founded. The authors also reviewed the accomplishment of the disease control in Yunnan Province, the current status of disease control and challenges in the future. Generally speaking, in the past 50 years, some diseases have been eradicated and some are under control now, and total incidence rate of infectious diseases is below the average of the whole nation. However, the disease control situation is still pressing. The infectious diseases in Yunnan have characters of wide spectrum, high incidence rate, sever harm and hard to control. Facing more strenuous diseases control task, we must strengthen capacity in 3 key areas, which are infectious disease surveillance and early warning system, public health emergency response and medication delivery. Furthermore, the collaboration and coordination in disease control between diseases control and medication systems is also a key factor to address the challenges.
