Temper Theory of ZHU He-ling

明清易代之际,儒家忠君爱国思想再度高扬,很多有志之士走上了反清复明的道路,也有一些人采取逃避隐居的办法面对现实。然而清朝的政局日益稳固,复明的希望日益渺茫,能否坚守气节,能否保持性情,是很多遗民面临的艰难考验。为此朱鹤龄提出了要保持"性情之正"的说法,希望大家守住气节,心存明室。

Confucius thought of being loyal to your emperor and country regained its significant role at the time of the dynasty changes from Ming to Qing. Many ambitious people began to call the restoration of Ming dynasty, and some other retreated from the reality. The regime of the Qing dynasty＇ s becoming more and more stable made the restoration of Ming dynasty unpromising. Most Ming people faced the test whether they can keep their integrity. Under these circumstances, ZHU He -ling proposed the temper theory with the hope to call the Ming People to hold their integrity.
