The prevention and cure of insect pests is the primary task in the protection of ancient books. The article makes an analysis of the causes of insect pests, introduces some methods to destroy the conditions of the occurrence of the insects and to protect ancient books. Based on the statistics of the measures taken by the key units all over the country, the author of this article points out the necessity of killing insect pests to protect the ancient books, appeals to appropriate more money, to improve the quality of the store-rooms of ancient books and suggest establishing professional units, raising the consciousness, and providing the professional products to protect ancient books.
