A Study on Technology Spillovers of FDI in Western China: Chongqing as a Case Study

摘要在借鉴国内外FDI行业技术溢出效应最新研究成果的基础上,构建了FDI技术溢出效应的经验模型,并利用重庆市1999-2006年工业行业面板数据对经验模型进行了检验,其结果表明:FDI在我国西部地区存在行业内技术溢出效应,而西部地区开放度的提高和国内资本的大量进入是影响FDI技术溢出效应的重要因素。因此,西部地区在引进外资方面,应该更多地关注内含先进技术的外资进入,而不仅仅是外资数量的增加。 Based on the latest research of FDI industry technology spillovers effects at home and abroad, this paper brings forward an empirical mode of FDI industry technology spillovers effects, and conducts an inspection of the empirical mode by using the industry level panel data from 1999 to 2006 in Chongqing. The results indicate that the FDI spillover effect happens within the industry in western China. The enhancement of the opening degree of the Western China and the large amount of the inflow of the domestic investment are two important factors which have influenced the FDI technological Spillover Effect. Therefore, when importing the foreign investment into western China, we should pay more attention to the advanced technology rather than the amount of the investments.
