This paper presents an analysis of the current coal economy performance and the challenges in front of the coal sector of this country. At the same time, the author also reviews the achievements obtained in the market-oriented reforms in the coal sector of this country. According to the author, a good job is called for in dealing with the relations between the national coal demands and the coal suplies, the relations between upper stream sectors and down stream sectors and also the relations between coal prices and total coal demands. What is more, we shall be very clear about the protractedness and arduousness of the market-oriented reforms in the coal sector.
