Popular Culture Critical Theory of Frankfurt School and Its Contemporary Value

文化批判理论对大众文化进行了无情的批判,认为大众文化是一种成为"商业囚徒"的文化,它毁灭了文化应当具有的独特性和创造性,必定会导致形成兼具欺骗性和操纵性的意识形态。笔者认为大众文化是时代的必然产物,而法兰克福学派的理论显得过于高傲和偏激,它所倡导的"精英文化"早已陷入了艺术的空想和浪漫主义的审美"乌托邦",完全忽略大众文化对社会和民众带来的积极作用,用独断论眼光去审视大众文化。虽然法兰克福学派的大众文化批判思想存有一定的缺陷和局限性,但它有益于我们判明大众文化发展中可能暗含的种种弊端,引导大众文化的健康发展。

Cultural critical theory, which seriously criticizes popular culture, considers that it has been made to be a＂ commercial prisoner＂ and destroyed the originality and creativity which the culture should have possessed. As a result,it will lead to a deceptive and manipulative ideology. The writer holds that the popular culture is the product of the age, but the Frankfurt school is overly arrogant and radical. ＂Elite culture＂, advocated by Frankfurt school has already been addicted into the ＂utopia＂ of the empty art and beauteous romanticism and completely overlooked the positive effect that popular culture brought to the society and the populace and studied the popular culture with dogmatism. There are some drawbacks and limitations in the popular culture critical theory of Frankfurt school, but it is good to discover the potential drawback in the development of popular culture.
