ARTISTIC EVOLVEMENT AND AESTHETIC FEATURES OF WHITE POTTERY BEFORE AND DURING SANG DYNASTY

白陶是我国早期陶瓷艺术中的一朵奇葩。本文试从早期白陶的出现、发展、繁荣、衰落为研究的出发点,对其有个整体的认识与把握,领略白陶艺术所独具的文化价值和美学风貌,并揭示其由盛而衰的历史原因。

White pottery is a marvel among early Chinese ceramic artworks for its excellent craftsmanship, extraordinary pattern and exquisite appearance. However, its splendor is as transient as a comet, and has disappeared into history leaving numerous unresolved questions. This paper is to investigate the emergence, development, prosperity and decline of white pottery to get a comprehensive knowledge of the art, thus understanding its unique cultural values and aesthetic features and revealing the historical reasons for its decline of prosperity.
