Intercultural Communication and Teaching of College English Writing

中式英语泛滥是中国大学生英语习作中一个十分普遍的问题,这一问题的产生与母语思维负迁移的影响有关,也与学生缺乏跨文化交际意识有关。为了使大学英语写作教学更有针对性,更好地帮助学生克服中式英语,文章将从汉语与英语的跨文化表达差异入手,提出从汉语模式到英语模式的转换策略,从而为教师们在大学英语写作教学的讲授、练习、评改的各个环节上帮助学生树立跨文化交际意识提供启示。

The misues of the Chinese linguistic mode is a serious problem in the English writing by Chinese college students and this problem is closely related to the negative effects of their mother tongue, as well as to their lack of knowledge of intercultural communication. To help Chinese college students improve their English writing and avoid Chinglish, the present paper proposes some ideas on how to switch from the Chinese writing mode to the English one by outlining the basic differences between these two modes of thinking. Along the line, it also makes a few suggestions as to how to help Chinese students build up a good sense of intercultural communication in their English writing.
