A broad range of neurological complications of chronic heroin abuse has been identified. These complications often involve the central nervous system in the form of spongiform leukoencephalopathy, seizures, and stroke. Among the peripheral nervous system (PNS) complications, compressive neuropathy is by far the most common overdose complication. Other rare PNS complications include plexopathy, acute demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy, rhabdomyolysis, and mononeuropathy^[1]. However, acute heroin-related neuropathy was rarely reported in China. Here we report a patient who was admitted to Department of Neurology, People's Hospital of Dali Prefecture in August 2006.
