Tie Ning has written lots of novels on rural subjects during her 30-year writing career. Among them, the most popular are her short stories ＂Oh, Sweet Snow＂ and ＂The Pregnant Woman and her Cow＂, her novella trilogy ＂Wheat Straw Buttress＂, ＂Green Grass Buttress＂ and ＂Cotton Buttress＂, and her novel ＂Stupid Flower＂. Tie Ning was born in a city but loves the rural scenes. The main characters of her rural novels are mostly women.
