The main research progresses on the marker-assisted selection breeding and transgenic breeding of Capsicum annuum were reviewed. The developing trends of Capsicum annum molecular breeding will be multi-informational and will integrate a genetic map, high efficiency of molecular breeding technique and systematics of molecular breeding theory.
