An Analysis of the Finite Word Length Effects on Orthonormal Discrete Wavelet Transform

本文研究用硬件实现正交离散于波变换时，有限字长对信号分解和重构的影响。给出了子波滤波器量化误差和运算舍入误差的传递模型，推导出两种误差同时存在时的方差递推公式，对理论结果与实际结果进行了分析比较。

This paper studies the finite word length effects on the signal decomposition andreconstruction using the orthonormal discrete wavelet transform (DWT) when implementingDWT in hardware. It presents the error propagation model of wavelet filter coefficient quantization and arithmetic roundoff. It gives the recursion formula to characterize the variance ofthe these two errors. Finally, the experimental results are compared with the theoretical ones.
