Taking EndNote and NoteExpress for example, this paper analyzes the function structures, features and shortages of reference management software. And the features of building a customized and sharable personal information environment are discussed under the background of personal information management. Reference management software helps users use information and create knowledge efficiently. And it will extend functions in the field of networking, hypercommunion, collaboration and personalization.
