The Party＇ s 17th Congress Report stated the value and function of education from the perspective of ＂improving people＇ s livelihood＂, which was the first attempt in the Party＇ s history. This statement shows that the current Chinese communists have tried to re-interpret and orientate the value and function of education. This indi- cates that the mainstream perception of our society with regard to views of education is evolving and advancing from the former ＂society-based＂ view to ＂man-based＂ and ＂man-centered＂ view. An exploratory analysis of the source and spiritual object of this evolution shows a close association with the view of scientific development raised inthe Party＇s 17th Congress Report.
