It is a serious question, after the death of God, for the western people to fulfil themselves. Iris Murdoeh, in her novel The Black Prince, touehes on this question. This article discusses the neeessity and paradox of the mirror image through the relationship between Bradley and Arnold, revealing the possibility of the characters' self-knowledge and self-fulfillment beyond the mirror image through love, memory and death.
