英语材料的学习过程包括输入与输出,即"听,说,读,写"。提高英语水平关键在于提高输入和输出能力-具体说来,可通过特定语境的听的训练、侧重提高理解力的阅读训练和快速阅读训练提高输入能力,通过对话、模仿、朗读、背诵、问答的方式提高语言输出能力。输入与输出是紧密联系、相互结合、相互促进的。因而,在英语学习过程中,学习者应将二者很好地结合起来,处理好二者的互动关系,使二者相互促进。
