晚清翻译小说的意译特点及其原因探究

On the Characteristics and Causes of Free Translation in Novel Translation During the Late Qing Dynasty

晚清时期中国译者大量译介外国小说的现象极大地促进了传统小说的演进。在这个过程中,译者在篇目选取,内容处理和语言结构等方面主要采取了"意译"策略。从政治、文化以及译者主体性等因素来探讨晚清翻译小说中的意译特点,并分析其产生的原因。

A large number of foreign novels translated into Chinese has dramatically impelled the evolution of traditional Chinese novels during the period of late-Qing Dynasty. In this process, the translator mainly adopeed a free translation strategy in the selection of articles, the treatment of content, the linguistic structures and so on. This paper discusses the characteristics of free translation and the causes from such factors as polities, culture and translators＇ subjectivity.
