Investigation Report on Several Ancient Cultural Sites in Tongbai County,Henan

孤峰山遗址地处桐柏县西部,属汉水流域,是一处商周至汉代的遗址,其周代遗存以灰陶为主,文化面貌与随枣走廊和鄂东北地区较为接近,和襄樊地区同期遗存相比则有一定差异。古台寺遗址地处桐柏县东部,属淮河流域,是一处东周遗址,距月河养国墓地不远,可能与春秋时期的养国有关。

During the August and November 2007, The Institute of Historical Geology, Wuhan University and Nanyang Municipal Institute of Culture Relics and Archaeology conducted archaeological investigations, which focused on the several sites including Gutaisi and Gufengshan, and partial samples are collected. Gufengshan is an archaeological site of the period from Shangzhou to Han Dynasty, which is situated on the western part of Tongbai County, and belongs to the area of Han River. Artifacts recovered are mainly grey pottery dated to Zhou Dynasty, its cultural context is similar to the Suizao Corridor and Edongbei region. However the materials display certain differences with those in Xiangfan area. Gutaisi Site is an Eastern Zhou Dynasty, which located in the Eastern Tongbai County and belongs to the area of Huaihe River. The site is near the Yue River Burial of Yang State, this implied the site may related to State of Yang in the Spring and Autumn Period.
