After World War Ⅱ,the industrial relations in Britain remained relatively peaceful at the beginning. However, with Britain’s continuing long-term decline as a world economic power, the British Government interfered in the industrial relations, which led to serious conflicts among different sides in the period between 1970 and 1974. The paper tries to explain the changes of the industrial relations from cooperation to conflict in Britain in this period and the complicated interactions among the British Government, employers and the trade unions.
