The paper applies the secondorder secondmoment method for structural reliability analysis in generalized random space to failure models of modern oil tanker's longitudinal strength. Compared with other current common methods, the method is simple and convenient. When failure function is highly nonlinear, it can give exact failure probability, and can be applied and disseminated in ship structural reliability analysis.
