上海有172km的海岸线。由于GSM无线设备TA值的限制,因此延海设置的基站理论上仅能覆盖35km左右的海岸范围,而事实上,同时因为无线设备发射功率、天线挂高等相关因素的影响,无线覆盖距离只有十几公里。如果要突破无线信号35km的覆盖极限,就必须对无线信号在海面上的传播方式进行研究,并采用新兴的无线技术-"扩展小区"技术。
