By virtue of their rich life experiences and keen observation and fertile imagination, Anderson and Naipaul portrayed in unique ways the aberrant characters of various ciphers and their expectations and thoughts of life in Winesburg, Ohio and Miguel Street, with simple language and full of love and sympathy, expressing sincerely their humanistic concerns about the status of human existence.
