普通高等院校担负着培养社会主义建设者和接班人的重要使命,培养和提升大学生的领导素养是一项具有全局性、根本性的战略任务。对各专业大学生来说,在加强各自专业学习的同时,加强其管理能力和领导能力的培养和训练,既有益于自身的全面发展,又能较好地满足社会对领导人才的需求。必须明确新时期大学生领导素养对执政党、高校人才培养、大学生自身和人才缺乏区域的价值,在培养过程中,必须遵循大学生领导人才素养培训的基本原则。

In order to strengthen the establishment of a team of Party and Government leaders, apart from the cultivation and application of current leaders in position, full attention should be given to its sustainable development by carrying out well the education and training for people with potential leadership from a strategic height. The ordinary institutions of higher learning bear heavy responsibilities for cultivating the builder and successor for socialist cause. The responsibility to cultivate and improve the leadership quality of college students is an overall and fundamental strategic duty. College students of different majors should not only grasp well the professional knowledge, but also enhance the management ability and cultivate leadership quality, which is benefitial for self-development in an all- round way and, meanwhile, meet the demand of society in leadership talents. At this point, it is quite important to make clear the values of college leadership for college students themselves, Ruling Party, cultivation of talents in institutions of higher learning, and also the fields in lack of talents. During the process of cultivating leadership qualities of college students, some fundamental principles should be followed.
