Mixed crystal from metal free phthalocyanine(H 2PC) and oxovanadium phthalocyanine(VOPc) are prepared by acid paste method. Then Vis near IR absorption spectra, ESR and X ray powder diffraction are used to characterize the mixed crystal. The results indicate that the shifts in absorption spectra and the corresponding photosensitive wavelength can be observed with the formation of the solid crystals. The shift is a continuous function of the molar fraction for the two component system,implying that in the crystal, the aggregate number of the basic stacking structure unit which causes spectral absorption is not 2, but a value larger than that. From the X ray powder diffraction pattern, it is found that the system is a partially miscible mixted crystal system. When the mole fraction of VOPc is higher than 0.2, it will form crystal itself.
