空间认知理论与“上”字的空间语义认知及英译

Theory of Spatial Cognition,the Semantic Cognitions of Chinese"Shang(上)",and Its English Translation

汉语的"上"字可作名词,也可作动词,因此就有了"上"字的各种静态语义认知图式和动态语义认知图式。由于英汉认知方式的不同,概念化和范畴化的过程和结果也就不同,因此,翻译时,就得将汉语"上"字所包含的语义范畴分解,从各种语义图式中找出相对应的英语表达方式。

After discussing Levenson＇ s theory of spatial frames of reference, this paper focuses on the exploration of the spatial semantic cognitions of Chinese ＂上＂ and their English expressions. The Chinese Character ＂上＂ can be used as a noun as well as a verb; therefore, it has its static spatial meanings and dynamic spatial meanings. Because of the different ways in cognition between the East and the West, the process and the result of concptualizations and categorizations are different in different languages. As a result, when translating Chinese ＂上＂ into English, trnaslators have to analyse the schemas of ＂上＂ and find out proper English expression for each schema.
