He believes that the modern arts can negate and transcend the reality by imagination, and then come to a unity of sensibility and rationality, eventually liberate human beings from the reality. This thesis unscrambles Marcuse＇ s thoughts on the modem arts＇ particular functions over individual existence, freedom and liberty from the aspects of his criticism on technique rationality, art alienation and Salvation.
