Notions of Context for the Interpretation of Deixis

语境依赖性被视为"指示"的区别性特征,但语境概念本身尚需针对具体语境加以界定。本文认为应当将语境理解为一个连续体,"指示"依赖的既非日常所说的外延模糊、宽泛的语境,又不囿于高度抽象的K-语境,而主要与所谓的"语义语境"相关。对于指示的语境依赖性,则需要从指示词语的使用和理解两个维度阐释。

Context-dependence has been taken as the defining feature of deixis. But context is a concept that needs to be defined in specific context of use. It seems advisable to view context as a continuum, in which what deixis depends upon is not the wide context in its vague sense of the ordinary language use, nor does it confine itself within the highly abstract K-context, but it is essentiaUy situated in the semantic context. As for the context-dependence of deixis, more illuminating interpretations can be made by probing into the feature from both dimensions of using and understanding deictic terms.
