This paper introduces the employing optimum design method of reinforced rectangular beam, discussed the feasibility in the process of employing optimum design for reinforced rectangular beam, expounded the measure of the employing optimum design with an example of a concrete rectangular beam with simply supported ends. Compared with traditional design method, it describes we can decrease structure cost by using optimum method in structure design. Thereby it proves the importance of employing optimum method in engineering structure design.
