The "Quixotic Principle" is a poetic principle with a universal meaning to the creation oi European and American novels, h provides a basic critical principle and model for the European and American novels since the Don Quixote from the aspects of "morhus litterarius" of the protagonist in novels, conflict between reality and ideas, self-cognition of protagonist and irony in artistic effect. Faulkner is exactly an important modern American writer who played a creative role in the application to this principle. Through the aesthetic exploration to Faulkner' s novels from such viewpoints as creative thoughts, creation of normative characters and narrative styles, we can completely corroborate the key poetic effect of the "Quixotic Principle" on the structure and aesthetic constitution of Faulkner's novels.
