《寒冬夜行人》把读者的阅读行为设置成小说的结构性要素,由这种阅读把十部小说开头糅合为一部小说的统一整体,并在叙述话语层面故意模糊作者、读者、故事人物之间的界限,拓宽了小说的表现领域,从而把对小说形式的探索推至新的高度。

Utilizing reading behavior as its building material, the author of If on a Winter＇s Night a Traveler integrated the beginnings of ten novels into an organic whole and deliberately blurred the roles of author, reader and character in narration. In so doing, the author broadened the scope of expression and initiated a new form of novel.
