Thermal machine is one of devices being used generally in commercial run and our life, its efficiency is also one of focal points cared by people. This paper not only gives a detailed derivation for the efficiency of the thermal machine and the Carnot thermal machine, but also extends to the efficiency of the refrigerating machine and the Carnot refrigerating machine. All of those make an overall cognition to the thermal machine and the refrigerating machine for people.
