随着西汉末年政局的变动,刘秀对谶纬的态度不断调整,即从起初对谶纬避而不谈转向信仰,并被其子孙所承袭,确立和巩固了谶纬在政治领域及学术界的根本指导地位。从政治领域而言,即帝位、人事任免、国家典礼制定、官学统一、机构名称的废立等无不以谶纬为根本依据。从学术界而言,与时俱进的学者纷纷援引图谶于经学研究之中,出现了相对于宋代而言的首次经学更新运动。经学谶纬化不仅成为学术研究之时尚,更重要的是成为肯定现实政权的某种政治表态。相反,坚持经纬有别,要求"述五经之正义"的学者及官僚主张的经学"自洁运动"均受到不同程度的政治打击,不得志成为必然结果。

On the terms of academic world, scholars advancing with the times apply the Chen Wei to the study of the classics, the mysterious classics not only become the fashion , but mean the political standpoint. On the contrary, scholars maintain the difference of the classic and Chen Wei suffer from the political combat.
