A Contrast of Chinese and American Speech Acts of Requests in Cross-cultural Communication

"请求"言语行为在任何语言中都普遍存在,它对交际的成功起着很重要的作用。中美两个国家的人们由于其文化价值观念及语言本身的不同,在请求语的使用方面存在着很大的差异。为了避免跨文化交际中的语用失误,促使交际顺利进行,很有必要对请求言语行为在中美两种语言中的文化差异及策略进行分析。

Request is universal in any language, which plays an important role in the successful communication. However, there are a great number of deviations in the applications of the requests due to different values and the language itself. In order to be success- ful in the cross-cultural communication, it is necessary to analyze the cultural differences and the strategies of request in Chinese and American languages.
