由于从事汉译英的优秀英语本族语译员紧缺,因此中国译员不得不进行汉译英。受到母语的影响,中国译员常在译文中自创一些英文中不存在的表达。通过自建城市简介可比语料库,探索可比语料库在汉译英中的应用途径,帮助中国译员使其英译文符合英语国家读者的阅读习惯。

Since only a limited pool of qualified native English-speaking translators can do Chinese-English translation, it is in- evitable for native Chinese translators to translate out of their native language. Influenced by their mother tongue, Chinese transla- tors often adopt some awkward expressions which do not exist in English. A comparable corpus on the subject of city introduction is constructed to explore how comparable corpus can be applied in C-E translation. It is argued that comparable corpus plays an ir- replaceable role in terminology extraction, awkward collocation spotting and it can also pick out some small errors which are often neglected by non-native English speaking translators.
