翻译是两种语言间的意义转换,因此,翻译不应拘泥于语言形式,而应注重语言意义。本文通过具体的英语句子中非最高级形式翻译成汉语"最"高级形式的例子,探讨了如何采取灵活、变通的方法达到"忠实、通顺"的翻译标准。

Translation means translating meanings between two different languages and therefore, meaning, rath- er than form, should be given priority to in translating. This paper discusses the necessity of meaning translation from English non-superlative sentences into Chinese superlative meanings ＂最＂ （ zui ） so as to achieve a faithful and smooth rendition.
