Just like the climate, geography, economy and politics, the urban cultural space is very important for a city's growth and the formation of its style. It is also of great significance in terms of its status in regional culture. It is not only a product of urban development, but also a creative force in shaping the city's social life. The 1920s and 1930s witnessed Qingdao's development in bathing beaches, cinemas and theaters, dance halls, observatories, aquariums, universities, media organizations, churches, temples and so on, thus forming a cultural space full of variety, vitality and order. This space maintained the balance of urban life, and at the same time created a multi-faceted urban life; it also created a way of life and a city quality focused on personal experience.
