Necessity of removing the tar fog in coal gas and work principle of electric tar trap were introduced, as well as abnormal phenomenon in operation of the electric tar trap. By comparing the work efficiency of two electro tar precipitators, the second electro tar precipitator was proved to go wrong. Reasons for low efficiency of the electro tar precipitator as well as solutions were analyzed. At last , points for attention in Using the electro tar precipitator were put forward.
