The Traditional Tie-and-dye Skill in Zhou cheng of Dali and Relevant Issues

This paper discusses the tie-and-dye skill popular in Zhou Cheng of Dali, its historical background, its craftwork process and several relevant issues. It points out that there are two kinds of tie-and-dye process, one of which is a traditional tie-dye skill and the other of which is a modem technique widely used by the Bat nationality in Zhou Cheng. As a national intangible cultural heritage, the central part ＂tie＂ in traditional tie-and-dye skill should be safeguarded. The paper also puts forward several suggestions on the development of the skill in Zhou Cheng of Dali .
