The paper probes into the application of Schemata theory to training students ability of writing supporting sentences in two aspects：formal schemata and content schemata.Then the paper comes up with specific teaching suggestions to help students create and activate formal schemata and content schemata,hoping to develop their practical skills in writing supporting sentences and thus improve their ability of writing paragraphs.
