On the Security of China's Maritime Passage

随着海上贸易量的不断增长,国际海上通道的作用越来越大,成为经济外向型国家的生命线。中国是个贸易大国,也是能源进口大国,又是一个正在崛起的大国,中国的发展越来越受制于海上通道的畅通无阻。由于受海洋大国对海洋通道实行垄断性、排他性控制,海道沿岸国政局动荡和海盗与海上恐怖主义等因素影响,中国海上通道安全不容乐观。加强与国际社会的合作,是维护中国海上通道安全的可行之策。

With the gradual increase of maritime trade volume, international maritime passages have been playing an even greater role, and have become the lifeline of export-oriented countries. As a big trading country and a big energy importing country in the process of rising as a major power, China is more and more experiencing the restrictions of maritime passage. Confronted with the exclusive monopoly and control by strong maritime coun- tries, troubled by the political turmoil, pirating, and maritime terrorism of countries along the sea routes, China＇s maritime passages are hardly optimistic. The only feasible way to protect the security of China＇s maritime passages is to enhance cooperation with the international community.
